Offsetra's carbon.fyi, sourced directly, then the lineage EWP continues

Every fact below draws on Offsetra's own current site, carbon.fyi's own /about page, and the public GitHub record. The frame here is different from a typical gap audit: this is a credit to real prior art, plus an honest look at what's changed and what hasn't since 2019.

Read this first. Independent recon by EcoWealth Corporation. Not requested, produced, reviewed, or endorsed by Offsetra. Passive reads only: public pages, a same-host robots.txt check across both offsetra.com and the current carbon.fyi, one same-host soft-404/true-404 control probe. No login, no scraping behind any paywall, no state-changing call. Captured 2026-07-16; every URL below is independently re-runnable.
Baseline, stated up front Offsetra was making blockchain activity's carbon footprint legible to ordinary users years before most of the market cared, and its work is still live, still open-source, and still explicitly credited by the team that maintains carbon.fyi today. The findings below are a credit and a lineage note, not a teardown.

1 · Credit: genuinely early, and still open-source today

Credit 1

2019 origin; live GitHub repos confirmed 200 as of this recon

Offsetra started with an airline-flight carbon calculator in 2019, then built one of the first Ethereum-network carbon-footprint methodologies (estimating wallet-level emissions from mining-pool geolocation and transaction timing) and pioneered early NFT/gaming carbon integrations, per independent coverage (Reset.org) and Offsetra's own KlimaDAO collaboration writeup. Both github.com/Offsetra/ethereum-emissions-calculator and github.com/dapped/carbon.fyi returned HTTP 200 when checked directly for this recon: the original methodology remains publicly inspectable years later, not an abandoned artifact.

2 · Credit: still credited by carbon.fyi's current stewards

Credit 2

"This website is maintained by Klima Protocol and Carbonmark," and Offsetra is named by name

carbon.fyi's own /about page states directly: "This website is maintained by Klima Protocol and Carbonmark," and separately: "The original carbon.fyi developed by Offsetra (including the Ethereum address CO2 calculator) is still fully available" via a dedicated legacy link. This is a rare, honest attribution chain in a market where prior art often gets quietly absorbed, worth naming as a credit to everyone in it: Offsetra for building it, and Klima/Carbonmark for keeping the credit visible rather than erasing it.

3 · Agent discovery: nothing at all, on either domain

Precision note 3

Both offsetra.com and carbon.fyi true-404 every path, including robots.txt itself

offsetra.com returns an identical branded 404 page (49,591 bytes) for /robots.txt, /llms.txt, /.well-known/agent-card.json, /.well-known/security.txt, ai.txt, /sitemap.xml, AND a nonsense-path control: every one byte-for-byte identical, confirming there is no robots.txt, no sitemap, and no agent-discovery surface of any kind, even though the homepage itself is genuinely live (200, 214,721 bytes). The current carbon.fyi (www.carbon.fyi, run by Klima Protocol/Carbonmark) shows the identical pattern at its own scale: a consistent 9,775-byte 404 for the same set of paths plus the control. This is the starkest 'nothing at all' case we've seen, not a soft-catch trick, just a legacy site (and its successor) that never shipped even basic SEO-era infrastructure.

EWP intersection: what this adds up to

This is a lineage note, not a gap-audit. Offsetra's carbon.fyi made an on-chain wallet's aggregate carbon cost legible to an ordinary user, a real innovation, years ahead of the market, honestly credited by the team (Klima Protocol and Carbonmark) that maintains it today. EWP continues the same underlying instinct, making a specific action's real-world impact legible and actionable directly from on-chain state, but runs it forward instead of backward: instead of estimating what a past transaction already cost, EWP funds, proves (photo+GPS+signature), and settles a specific real-world contribution on-chain, with a persistent receipt. No claim of relationship, adoption, or comparison of scale is made here, only a credit to real prior art, and an honest note on where that same thread leads next.
