Independent concept note · Not affiliated with Offsetra · Unlisted
Offsetra made a crypto wallet's carbon footprint legible before 'agentic commerce' was a phrase. EWP is the same move, continued.
Offsetra built carbon.fyi in 2019-2021, one of the first tools to estimate an Ethereum wallet's carbon footprint from mining-pool geolocation and transaction timing, open-sourced, and still live today under new stewardship. This is prior-art credit, not a teardown: the same instinct (make a specific on-chain action's real-world impact legible and actionable) is the one EWP continues at settlement scale.
Not affiliated: stated plainly, every pageThis package is independent, unsolicited recon by EcoWealth Corporation. It was not requested, produced, reviewed, or endorsed by Offsetra. No partnership, adoption, or relationship of any kind is claimed. Nothing here has been sent to Offsetra or anyone else: it is staged locally, noindex, unlisted, and shared only if the operator later chooses to.
Read this first: method. Passive reads only: Offsetra's own public pages, a same-host robots.txt check across both offsetra.com and the current carbon.fyi, and a same-host soft-404/true-404 control probe (a nonsense path fetched on the same host to distinguish a real not-found from a soft-catch). No login, no registration, no scraping behind any paywall, no state-changing call anywhere. Captured 2026-07-16.
The whole thing, plainly
Offsetra built one of the first tools to show a crypto wallet's real-world carbon footprint, back in 2019, still live, still open-source, still credited by the team that runs it today.
We already built the forward-looking version, free to see: instead of estimating a footprint after the fact, EWP funds a real contribution, proves it happened, and settles a receipt on-chain.
The ask: none. This page is a credit and a lineage note, not a pitch.
4 facts, credit-first
Real credit is due where it's due. Each fact below was fetched directly for this note: the brief has the exact URL, quote, and (where applicable) the reproducible command.
First-mover, 2019
Offsetra started with an airline-flight carbon calculator, then built one of the first Ethereum-network carbon-footprint methodologies and pioneered early NFT/gaming carbon integrations.
carbon.fyi lives on, credited by its new stewards
carbon.fyi's own /about page states plainly: "This website is maintained by Klima Protocol and Carbonmark," and separately credits Offsetra: "The original carbon.fyi developed by Offsetra ... is still fully available" via a legacy link.
Open-source code, still live today
Both Offsetra/ethereum-emissions-calculator and dapped/carbon.fyi return HTTP 200 on GitHub as of this recon (2026-07-16), the original methodology is still publicly inspectable, years later.
The starkest 'nothing at all' agent-discovery case we've seen
Both offsetra.com and the current carbon.fyi return a byte-identical branded 404 for literally every path checked, including robots.txt itself: neither site has ever shipped even the most basic SEO-era file.
Capability brief
Offsetra's prior art, sourced, then the lineage EWP continues
The 2019 origin, the still-credited carbon.fyi handoff to Klima/Carbonmark, the live GitHub repos, the starkest agent-discovery gap we've seen, and the honest EWP-intersection finding: making one on-chain action's real-world footprint legible is the same move, continued at settlement scale.
EWP contract 0x76c17C…A14B settles real-world ecological labor on Base mainnet: funded work packet → claimed → proof (photo + GPS + signature) → approved → on-chain settlement. Offsetra's carbon.fyi made a wallet's aggregate footprint legible from the outside, a real, useful abstraction, but a backward-looking estimate, not a funded, forward-looking, per-action proof. EWP's photo+GPS+signature+on-chain-settlement receipt is proposed as the continuation of that same instinct at a different point: not estimating the footprint of past transactions, but funding and proving a specific real-world contribution before it settles on-chain.
What this proposes, and what it doesn't
Not a partnership pitch, not outreach, not a request for anything. Offsetra is an independent company with its own current offset-retail business (1,054,243 tonnes CO2e claimed to date); nothing here asks Offsetra to adopt, review, or partner on anything.
What it is: genuine, specific credit for being early: carbon.fyi predates most of what's now called 'on-chain carbon accounting' by years, and its current stewards (Klima Protocol and Carbonmark) still credit Offsetra by name on the live site, plus an honest note on the site's current agent-discoverability, and the lineage EWP's own settlement model continues.
Scope, stated honestly: Offsetra doesn't operate carbon.fyi today (Klima Protocol and Carbonmark do, per carbon.fyi's own /about page) and Offsetra's current business (corporate/bulk offset retail) is a different model from EWP's funded-labor-settlement approach. The comparison is lineage and instinct, not a claim of equivalence or relationship.
Offsetra's carbon.fyi asked 'what did this wallet already cost the planet?' years before anyone was asking it. EWP asks a forward-looking version of the same question: 'what real-world good can this settlement fund and prove?' Same instinct, different tense.
